Man killed on wind farm after collision with lorry

A MAN has died in a collision with a lorry at the site of one of the UK’s most powerful onshore wind farms, it was announced yesterday.

The unnamed man, a German national, was found at Cefn Croes wind farm at Ponterwyd, near Aberystwyth, at 10pm on Tuesday night, four miles off the main A44 road on the top of a mountain.

Dyfed-Powys Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating.

The £50m wind farm is built on a mountain plateau and has 39 turbines up to 328ft (100m) high.

A police spokeswoman said, “He was found dead at a house in the Cefn Croes area last night at around 10pm. Next-of-kin have been informed.”

The HSE said an inspector has visited the scene and was working with the police.
