FROM posh restaurants to cheap chippies we are again looking for the best places to eat and drink in South Wales.

Before we can judge for ourselves in our Food and Drink Awards 2008, we need your help in telling us about your favourite places.

Now in their sixth year, the awards have become much sought-after accolades among restaurants and pub owners in the region.

This year our judges visited 51 restaurants, 22 pubs and 11 city bars, as well as 15 takeaways and fish and chip shops and 12 sandwich and snack bars to sample some of the finest food in the region.

Our panel of mystery judges are at the ready again to put your favourite places to the test.

This year’s categories include Restaurant of the Year, Italian Restaurant, Indian Restaurant, Oriental Restaurant, Takeaway of the Year, Fish and Chip Shop of the Year, Best Food Local Pub and City Bars and Sandwich and Snack Bars.

So tell us about your favourite spots for eating and drinking on your local patch. Use the email link below to name your favourite place in as many, or as few, of the categories as you like.

You will also need to include the address of the place you are nominating as many pubs, in particular, have the same name.

Every pub and restaurant agreeing to take part will be visited by our Echo judges and the winners announced at an award ceremony next January.

Tell us about your favourite restaurant or pub and you could win a meal for two.

The names of all those who make nominations will go into a prize draw and the winner will dine out in style on a three-course feast. Subject to availability.
