Civil war is on way to Wales

A WELSH re-enactment society will be holding its 12th recreation of the American Civil War.

Members of the Confederate and Union Re-enactment Society will be at Dyffryn Gardens in the Vale of Glamorgan on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The group will dress in authentic 1860s Civil War uniforms for the annual 10-mile march in aid of Ty Hafan on Sunday.

On Saturday and Monday the group will hold a living history camp and small battle.

Self-styled Major Buck Day, from Fairwater, Cardiff, said: “The event is always very successful and people always have a good time.

“We always raise money for Ty Hafan and hope people will come and support us to help a good cause.”

The group will also be holding Fortress Wales 08 at Margam Park during the May Bank Holiday, from May 2 to 5, and will be covering 1,000 years of living history.
