LIBERAL Democrat MP Lembit Opik yesterday said he is to take legal advice following revelations concerning his private life.
Mr Opik’s former partner, ITN weather presenter Siân Lloyd, made a number of allegations about the couple’s relationship in the Mail on Sunday newspaper.
The revelations appeared in an extract of Ms Lloyd’s new autobiography, A Funny Kind of Love, which is due to be released in April and which is currently being serialised by the newspaper.
But in a TV interview, Mr Opik, MP for Montgomeryshire and Liberal Democrat spokesman for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, said that parts of the article “may be illegal”.
MP Mr Opik 43, and Ms Lloyd, 49 announced their engagement in 2004 and had been together for four years before their relationship ended. Mr Opik, is currently dating Gabriela Irimia, 25, one half of Romanian pop duo The Cheeky Girls.
Air ambulance in use after crash
TWO motorists were airlifted to hospital yesterday after a road accident in Mumbles.
The Wales Air Ambulance first landed on the beach then on the Swansea Bay foreshore footpath close to where the accident happened at 2pm on Mumbles Road.
Vehicles were diverted around the scene of the accident which is believed to have involved three cars.
Man held after walking into sea
A MAN has been detained under the Mental Health Act after apparently walking into the sea.
A police helicopter was called in to sweep the Swansea Bay shoreline with searchlights opposite the city’s St Helen’s rugby ground at 3am on Saturday.
Police were called by witnesses who said they saw the man walking into the waves in heavy rain.
After being located by police the man was detained at the city’s Cefn Coed Psychiatric Hospital.
