Day event targets the bogus callers

POLICE and trading standards officers are hoping to beat bogus callers by holding an awareness day next week.

The event, being held by Gwent Police and trading standards officers from Caerphilly Council, is to educate local organisations about what they can do to help protect clients, customers and staff.

At the events, officers will be informing organisations about issues surrounding bogus callers. They will also provide advice about the preventative measures available to protect the people they care for in the community.

The Doorstep Crime Awareness day will be on Tuesday at Llancaiach Fawr in Nelson.

Brian Steele, a crime prevention expert, will be at the event.

Organisations taking part include: Caerphilly Community Safety Wardens, Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators, Home Care Assistants, Meals On Wheels, Age Concern, Help the Aged and Victim Support.
