A FURTHER 13 post offices will close in Wales, it was confirmed yesterday.
Under the proposals, 13 post offices in the central Wales areas of Montgomeryshire, Ceredigion, Brecon and Radnorshire will shut, while a further 24 will be replaced by a number of “outreach service points”, providing mobile solutions in rural areas.
The plans are part of a UK scheme to close up to 2,500 Post Offices and would leave 153 branches in central Wales. A six-week consultation now begins on the changes will now begin.
Eifion Pritchard, chair of Postwatch Wales, said, “Post office closures are not good news for customers, but the Government has decided that a significant number are necessary to help put in place a sustainable network for the long-term.
“Postwatch accepts the rationale for change.”
