A 19-YEAR-OLD was car-jacked and forced to withdraw £150 from his bank account after being threatened with a weapon.
Police have issued a description of a white man in his late 20s who targeted the victim as he got out of his blue Honda Civic in Alice Street, Butetown, Cardiff.
The suspect held an unidentified weapon to the victim’s stomach and ordered him back into his car.
From there, he was forced to drive to the Lloyds TSB cashpoint in Bute Street, Butetown, Cardiff.
After the victim withdrew £150 and handed it over, under orders from his abductor he got back into the car and drove to Schooner Way, Cardiff Bay, where the suspect made off.
Detective Sergeant Ceri Hughes said the ordeal had taken about 20 minutes after the victim was first targeted at 1.30am on Wednesday morning. She said he had been left “shaken” by the abduction and robbery.
She said: “This is an unusual type of incident and we would urge anyone who recognises the description or who has seen the suspect at the locations described to contact us.
“Clearly, we are determined to find the person responsible. We would seek the support of the public in order to prevent a repeat of this incident.”
The suspect was described as white with tanned skin, with short dark hair, 5ft 8ins tall, of average build and aged between 25 to 30 years old and wearing a three-quarter-length jacket.
Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Cardiff Bay CID on 029 2022 2111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
