A first-class prince

SELF-PROCLAIMED Prince of Wales Owain Glyndwr will feature on a new set of stamps celebrating the Royal Houses of the British Monarchy.

The Welsh Prince, who led a revolt against the English between 1400 and 1409, was the last person to claim the title of independent Prince of Wales.

Owain Glyndwr, who was born into the Welsh aristocracy around 1350 and held a Welsh Parliament in Machynlleth, is on a set of stamps of the Houses of Lancaster and York.

The image on the stamp is taken from a statue in Cardiff City Hall.

Owain Glyndwr first appeared on a Royal Mail stamp in 1974 as part of a set entitled Medieval Warriors.
