A ZULU chief whose ancestors once fought the Welsh, will join soldiers celebrating St David’s Day.
Zulu leader Chief Buthelezi will be welcomed by 2nd Battalion The Royal Welsh for St David’s Day celebrations in Tidworth Camp, Salisbury, tomorrow.
The regiment is known for its valiant defence of Rorke’s Drift, in South Africa, against Chief Buthelezi’s Zulu warrior ancestors in 1879.
Their iconic stand earned the regiment respect from both the British people and their Zulu opponents, who have since become friends.
