Lloyd George’s nephew left £4m

FORMER Welsh Prime Minister David Lloyd George’s nephew has left more than £4m to his family in his will.

William Richard Philip George, who died last November, divided his fortune among his family, as well as leaving money for organisations close to his heart.

One of the oldest solicitors operating in the UK, he had joined his father’s practice in Porthmadog in 1934, and continued to work there until the end of his life, aged 94.

WRP George’s first marriage in 1943 to Dora Harley was dissolved.

He married again 10 years later to Greta Bogner. The couple had three daughters and a son. His wife still lives in North Wales.

It is thought he inherited much of his wealth from his father, William George, who was also a solicitor and worked in the family practice until his death aged 101.

Inheriting the family’s political values, the former Welsh-language poet and Archdruid of Wales was active in the Liberals before joining Plaid Cymru and becoming the party’s vice-president.
