A CONMAN dressed as a woman in order to use stolen bank cards to withdraw cash, police said yesterday.
Police in Neath are looking for the man who, on one occasion, wore a wig to disguise himself.
On February 19 the man went to the Tregelles Court council building in Neath Abbey saying he needed to measure the windows. He was kitted out with a clipboard and tape measure.
While inside the building he stole bank cards which were then used on five separate occasions in the Swansea and Llanelli areas.
Police said witnesses at a bank in Swansea remember seeing the suspect dressed as a woman and using a card bearing a woman’s name but they assumed he was a transvestite.
Dyfed-Powys Police said the same man used a similar excuse on December 4 last year to gain access to County Hall in Carmarthen, where bank cards were again stolen.
The man used the cards to withdraw money from banks in Llanelli and Carmarthen and attempted to disguise himself by wearing a wig.
He is described as white, aged about 40, 5ft 10in, of medium build with short receding hair.
