A MAIN road is likely to be closed for around five weeks for repair works.
The road through Fair View in Pengam, near Bargoed, is closed after a recent inspection found a damaged culvert.
This is now being replaced by Caerphilly County Council’s Network Contracting Services using subcontractors.
Diversion signs are in place and the alternative route for traffic is the recently constructed Oak Terrace by-pass which leads to Bryn Road.
Pedestrian access has been maintained along the north footway and access to the Chinese takeaway is still available.
Motorists are being urged to use only designated diversion routes after problems with some drivers taking short cuts across a grassed area between the road and a playground. Because of increased levels of children playing in the area over half term engineers are due to place extra barriers at the site.
