A TEENAGE boy appeared in court today charged with murder.
The 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, stood in the secure dock at Pontypridd Magistrates’ Court accused of killing Anthony Ivor Rees, 40.
Mr Rees’ body was found at a house in Grovers Close, Glyncoch, Pontypridd, on Thursday after police, acting on a tip-off, broke in.
The 17-year old spoke only to confirm his name and to give his address and date of birth. His solicitor Jeremy Bird made no application for bail and the boy was remanded in custody.
The boy’s co-accused Anthony John Fitzgerald, 22, of Greenmeadow Close, Glyncoch, later appeared in the same dock to face the same charge. His solicitor John Griffiths told the court he was not applying for his client to be granted bail. Both defendants are due to appear at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday, February 20.
