Valleys town to get new attraction

BARGOED looks set to get a new mosaic sculpture to replace an attraction which has been vandalised.

The raised natural flowerbed displaying the motif of Bargoed town council at St Gwladys car park has suffered at the hands of vandals.

Now plans are under way to replace the motif with a new ceramic and recycled glass mosaic.

Designs for the new attraction are expected to be submitted by the end of this month and, subject to funding, could be completed by the end of July.

This time measures are also going to be put in place to protect the mosaic from harm.

Caerphilly County Council’s cabinet member for regeneration Tudor Davies said: “It is extremely disappointing that the current motif in St Gwladys car park has been subject to vandalism.

“The new mosaic will be made from materials from a sustainable or recycled source and should be a fantastic asset to the town and people of Bargoed”.
