Rare egg theft case adjourned

A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with stealing more than 7,000 birds’ eggs.

Richard Pearson, 41, is accused of stealing the rare eggs, some of which belonged to golden eagles, peregrine falcons nesting on Anglesey and ospreys.

Pearson, of Phelps Place, Cleethorpes, is also accused of storing 21 dead birds in his freezer.

His trial, due to take place yesterday at Skegness Magistrates’ Court, has been adjourned until April 1 so his defence solicitor can call a specialist vet to determine how the birds died. Pearson denies all seven charges.

The case has been adjourned until April 1.
