Builder injured at Bay police station site

FIREFIGHTERS were called in to help rescue a man injured on a building site.

The worker was taken by ambulance to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, after he was hurt while working on the new police station on Dumballs Road, Butetown, Cardiff, at around 2pm yesterday.

A fire service spokeswoman said: “We had a report of one male casualty who was trapped on the second floor of the building.

“We rescued him using a stretcher because he had injured a leg.”

The building site foreman said the man had damaged an ankle, but his injury was not serious.

A spokeswoman for the construction firm Stradform, which is responsible for the project, said: “The incident has been reported to the appropriate authorities and a full investigation will be carried out as soon as possible.”

A Health and Safety Executive spokesman said his colleagues were aware of the incident and were liaising with Stradform.
