Stolen car used in television thefts

SHOPLIFTERS who pinched two LCD TVs from a supermarket while driving a stolen car taken in a house burglary two days earlier are wanted by police.

Two men were caught on CCTV entering the Asda superstore in Pontprennau, Cardiff, at just after 6.15pm on Saturday.

They walked out with two large LCD televisions and made off in a 56-plate Vauxhall car that had been stolen from a house in Alexandra Road, Canton, Cardiff, in a burglary last Thursday.

Two other LCD televisions were also stolen in the house burglary, between 10.45am and 11.30am.

Officers are appealing for anyone who recognises the two men or who has seen a small silver Vauxhall Meriva they do not recognise not to approach the men but contact detectives.

Detective Sergeant Tudor Thomas, who is leading a burglary squad in the west of Cardiff, said the car is almost certainly being kept in a residential street.

He said: “All calls will be treated as confidential. We are looking for anyone who recognises the people in the images shown, as people who may have offered them LCD televisions, or who has seen a silver car parked in their street.”

The car has also been seen being driven around the Ely, Cardiff, area.

n Anyone with information should contact the burglary team on 029 2057 1591 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
