Bodybuilding Aleks looks to muscle into big time

AN internationally-renowned female bodybuilder is hoping to head a Welsh team onto the world’s bodybuilding stage.

Aleks Fowler has just returned home after taking second place in the INBA world championships in Greece.

The INBA, an American-based organisation dedicated to natural drug-free bodybuilding, has asked the 31-year-old to form a Welsh team to compete in the world championships in Belfast later this year.

And from there, they could go on to the Universe competition in Hollywood.

Aleks, who lives in Treforest with husband Alun after moving from Poland seven years ago, said: “I’ll be looking for natural competitors to put Welsh athletes on the map and to promote natural healthy bodybuilding to counteract the growing steroid problem in Wales.”

Aleks, who also works as a part-time pole dancer, added: “I’m hoping to get some support from the various sports bodies in Wales to encourage youngsters to live a more healthy lifestyle and show them you don’t need steroids to have a good shape.

“Preparing for this championship and taking a Welsh team will mean an opportunity to educate people into leading a healthy lifestyle.”

Over the next few months, Aleks, who has won numerous natural body building competitions including Miss Wales, will be training for the challenge and looking for suitable candidates for the Welsh team. Aleks is also a personal trainer by day and fits her conditioning in around her busy schedule.

A typical day for Aleks sees her getting up at 5.45am, working, training, planning and eating well and dancing at Cardiff’s Fantasy Lounge four nights a week.

If anyone is interested in trying out for the team, call Aleks on 07753 931732.
