Experts have warned eating too many Easter eggs can “seriously harm” children’s health, with just a handful causing them to pile on the pounds.
Eating five Easter eggs including the bars of chocolate often contained inside can:
Double a child’s recommended calorie intake for the week;
Cause them to gain several pounds within a few days; and
Risk children becoming addicted to chocolate.
The average Easter egg and the extra sweets and chocolates inside contain close to 2,000 calories, and dieticians warn that children consuming just 500 calories more than they need is enough to cause them to pile on weight.
