THE Environment Agency will today deliver 200 newsletters to people living near a quarry used for dumping toxic waste.
The Agency is investigating whether the waste has escaped from the Brofiscin site, near Groesfaen.
The quarry was used as a dumping ground for industrial and chemical waste in the 1960s and 1970s including toxic substances thought to cause cancer.
The newsletter, written with Rhondda Cynon Taf council, says: “The aim of recent work is to help fully understand the current risks to ground and surface waters.
“A health-based study is due to commence which will provide necessary information on any risks to health.”
