SAD news this week with reports that Karlheinz Stockhausen, one of Germany’s most important post-war composers, has died.

The 79-year-old gained fame through his avant-garde works in the 1960s and ’70s and later moved to huge musical theatre and other projects.

Me? I’m a big fan of the work he did with Aitken and Waterman during the ’80s, especially on Rick Astley’s debut single Never Gonna Give You Up, those first few Kylie tunes and Sonia’s You’ll Never Stop Me From Loving You.

He will be missed by pop pickers everywhere.
