GOLFER Nick Faldo, pictured, was cleared of a driving offence yesterday after a luxury BMW was caught speeding on a motorway.
A BMW 4x4 owned by his company was caught on speed camera exceeding the 50mph limit on the Severn Bridge.
But the current Ryder Cup captain claimed he was not driving the car, which belonged to his Faldo Enterprises company.
Faldo, 50, was fined £200 by magistrates at Abergavenny in August for failing to identify the driver of a vehicle, of which he was the registered owner.
But his lawyers argued the conviction should not be upheld because the car was not owned by Faldo – but by his company Faldo Enterprises.
Faldo won an appeal against the conviction yesterday at Newport Crown Court.
Judge David Morris said that as a result of new evidence the Crown Prosecution Service had decided not to oppose Faldo’s appeal.
