A SCHOOLBOY is on the road to fame and fortune after being picked from nowhere to star alongside Robert Carlyle in his new spy thriller.
The Full Monty star, pictured right, will be in Bridgend next month when filming begins on his new film I Know You Know.
But we can reveal 13-year-old Cardiff boy Aaron Fuller has been picked to play Robert’s son in the movie – despite never having an acting lesson in his life.
Aaron, who lives in Ely, was sitting quietly in his classroom at Lady Mary Secondary School, Cardiff, when producers called in search of a boy to star in the film.
But now, after sailing through a series of auditions, Aaron is ready for the big time after being plucked to star alongside the Trainspotting star in a Billy Elliot-style rags to riches story.
Filming on the Welsh coming-of-age drama, directed by Cardiff-born BAFTA Cymru winner Justin Kerrigan, begins next month. The film is backed by the Film Agency for Wales.
Carlyle, 46, will play a spy called Charlie who finds his son getting caught up in the more dangerous side of his espionage work for MI6.
Aaron’s aunty Sharon Ogle said: “It’s a complete dream come true for Aaron.
“He has never had an acting lesson in his life but the film people loved him. They said he is a complete natural.
“Robert Carlyle loves him and has already called him a genius. We don’t know if Aaron will have to have acting lessons because the film people think he’s got everything. We cannot believe it as Aaron has never had any interest in becoming an actor.
“Aaron has been so down to earth about everything. He came home from school, with his arms outstretched in the street and said ‘I’ve got the best part in the world’ and then went into his house and played on his PlayStation.”
Producers toured a host of schools in South Wales in the search for a boy with raw talent to play Carlyle’s son.
But die hard Manchester United fan Aaron has been told he must play a Liverpool fan in the film.
Sharon said: “Aaron agreed and Robert agreed to buy him some Manchester United stuff.
“We are so proud of him. He is out little star. Let’s just hope we get some premiere tickets!”
