Fans see the new identity of Timelord’s sidekick

CATHERINE TATE yesterday swapped her comedy schoolgirl costume for a sharp business suit and high heels for an episode of the new Doctor Who series.

It is understood Catherine, 39, will help tackle aliens invading the earth.

She is most famous for playing Lauren Cooper, an argumentative teenage girl who repeats the catchphrase, “Am I bovvered?”

Fans watched as she stepped into the sunshine with sleek and shiny hair and immaculate make-up for the new Doctor Who episodes in Cardiff’s Churchill Way.

Fan Nicola Rees, 26, said, “We’re used to seeing her as the scruffy teenager in her TV show. She looked like a million dollars today – like something out of Sex and the City. It was a real thrill to see her. Everyone has been saying we are really glad we ‘bovvered’ to come along.”

She is making her second appearance in the sci-fi series as David Tennant’s side-kick Donna.

Dr Who viewers applauded about her performance when she starred in last year’s successful Christmas episode.
