Gunman 'on loose in town'

A man who threatened a number of people with a gun is on the loose in a town, police have said.

Armed officers were called to an area of Cippenham in Slough, Berkshire, following reports of man holding a gun wandering in the Bower Way area.

Thames Valley Police said armed response units, local officers and the police helicopter have been deployed to a block of flats where the man was last seen.

Police, who were called at 2.46pm, said it was believed the man made threats to a number of people.

A spokesman said: "As a precautionary measure, local schools and residents have been notified and advised to remain indoors until the incident is resolved. Roads in the area have been closed to traffic."
