Caring for the carers

FOSTERS carers in the borough got the chance to put their feet up recently and be made a fuss of.

A day of pampering by beauty therapy students was organised at Ystrad Fawr College to allow the foster carers to relax for a change.

Caerphilly County Borough Council set up the pampering sessions to show their appreciation for the hard work that foster carers do in the borough.

Donna Curtis has two foster children who came to live with her when they were aged four and six. They are now aged 10 and 12.

She said: “Before I arrived at the college, I’d had a really busy morning. It’s nice to be treated to such a relaxing day. We had massages, manicures, and we had our hair done. We were all really pampered.”

Service Manager Jane Moore said: “The pamper day was organised as a small token of thanks for the wonderful work that our foster carers do every day.

“They make a tremendous difference to lives of the children under our car, providing a loving, stable, family environment for children who have often experienced turmoil in the past.”
