A ‘SEX PEST’ who was found to have groped and harassed a female employee has quit his job at the Welsh Assembly.
Graham Evans, a 54-year-old from Penpedairheol has resigned as highways manager after an internal review of the case involving Christine Davies.
Mrs Davies took him to the civil courts, where it was heard he followed her into a toilet during a lunch to celebrate her promotion and bombarded her with texts and phone calls.
Assembly staff confirmed in writing to Mrs Davies, aged 52, that the Football Association of Wales referee had tendered his resignation.
In a letter addressed to Mrs Davies, human resources director of the Assembly Government, Bernard Galton, wrote: “As you would expect, the Assembly Government has given very careful consideration to the implications that the County Court judgment presented in relation to Mr Evans’s future employment.
“In the event, Mr Evans was suspended from work pending the outcome of the review which would decide whether his continued employment was sustainable.
“Mr Evans subsequently tended his resignation, which has been accepted and has taken effect.”
Mrs Davies said: “I am relieved to hear this news. It means that female staff at the Welsh Assembly Government will feel safer now that Evans is no longer employed there.
“At last something has been done about it.”
