LEGENDARY rockers the Manic Street Preachers have been presented with a “Godlike Genius” award.
The Blackwood band
were presented with the award by fellow Welshhman, boxer Joe Calzaghe, at the NME Music Awards last week.
They then brought the renowned awards ceremony to a close with one of their most well-known hits Design for Life.
The Rhymney Valley band have had a career which has spanned 25 years despite the loss of guitarist Richey Edwards.
The NME magazine’s editor, Conor McNicholas, said: “If ever there were a band that meant something, a band that were ‘for real’, it is this band.”
All three remaining members James Dean Bradfield, Sean Moore and Nicky Wire, were present to receive their award.
