AN ENVIRONMENTAL health officer has defended a decision to allow the butcher to continue using a single meat-packing machine.

Angela Coles said she had some concerns over the machine being used for cooked and uncooked meat when she inspected the premises.

But she said: “From a cleanliness point of view, I did not think it was that bad.”

She was told the second machine was being repaired and would be back within a week.

She said she was satisfied the one in use was being cleaned and disinfected properly.
