Venue is our gem

IT was pleasing to read the Coliseum Theatre being mentioned in three separate letters in your newspaper in the last few weeks.

As Rhondda Cynon Taf Council cabinet member with responsibility for cultural services, I am fully aware and proud of all three theatres’ important relationships with their local, regional and national audiences and performers.

In the Coliseum’s case, the presented programme offers Cynon Valley residents – and beyond – a wide range of performances that include award-winning opera, stand-up comedy, first-class pantomime and a number of Welsh exclusives from internationally acclaimed musicians.

And that is just the professional element of the programme.

It is pleasing to read of the success of our amateur companies and their important role in presenting opportunities for our talented local residents to perform and to delight our loyal audiences.

Not every show can be a sell-out but all can benefit from the positive advocacy that all Rhondda Cynon Taf residents can play their part in.

The Coliseum certainly is a gem and one that all of us can assist in radiating its sparkle!
