WHILE I welcome the recent report into the E.coli outbreak by the National Public Health Service, I look forward to the findings of the full public inquiry.
Plaid Cymru was the first party to call for that public inquiry, which was initially opposed by other parties.
We called for a public inquiry because we wanted a thorough investigation and not just the official’s assessment.
I also hope the Government will be prepared to legislate as soon as possible to make sure that all schools meet a minimum standard of hygiene.
I know the majority of schools are meeting these proper standards already.
But we have to get the law right to ensure that everything possible is done to reduce future outbreaks.
I feel the quality of food in our schools needs to be improved.
The Plaid-driven One Wales Government are already taking steps to make improvements for the students.
There are also plans to make sure that more school food is locally sourced.
We must take action to stop a repetition of the tragedy we saw two years ago.
