MOUTHWATERING beef roast dinners with all the trimmings were served up to celebrate Welsh Beef Day this month.
The lucky pupils at Mountain Ash Comprehensive School tucked in to mark the annual event, which marks the all-Wales campaign to put local produce on children's plates.
The day also highlighted the ongoing work across Rhondda Cynon Taf to serve schoolchildren food of the highest quality.
As well as marking the importance of the highest possible standards for school meals, the day also marked the retirement of two key catering staff at Mountain Ash Comprehensive.
School cook Carole Thomas retired after 23 years of preparing delicious meals for pupils while general kitchen assistant Monica Prosser left after 17 years.
Coun Mike Forey, Cabinet Member for Education said: “High quality, local produce is not just on the menu at schools on Welsh Beef Day - it's there every day.
“We are proud of the links we have forged, the standards we have attained and the staff we have on hand to ensure only best is served.”
