Double tragedy

A YOUNG father has died after falling from a minibus into the path of a car.

Daniel Salaman, aged 21, of Hendre Road, Pencoed, died after being critically injured at 9.30pm on Sunday.

The father-of-two, who is believed to have been on a stag night, was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary following the collision, but died at 7.45pm on Tuesday.

Friend Teri-Leigh Dyer, who had known Daniel since primary school, said everyone who knows him is devastated.

“It is really sad, everyone is really shocked,” she said.

“He was lovely, he was a nice person.

“He was really funny and very popular, he had a lot of friends. He will be missed.”

Daniel, who had lived at Tybryn Terrace with his family for many years, used to work as a yard boy in J Davey Builders’ Merchant in Pencoed.

He was a former pupil of Pencoed Comprehensive School.

Headteacher Dr Elwyn Davies said Daniel’s death is a “tremendous loss”.

“He was a very likeable person. He was a lovely person and it is a great loss,” he said

“He was very popular, it’s so terrible. Our sympathies go out to his parents and sisters.”

Scores of tributes have been paid to Daniel on his Facebook webpage.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “The incident happened at about 9.30pm in Rupert Street on Sunday.

“A minibus carrying a group of men, who had travelled to Bristol for a night out, was driving towards the city centre.

“A member of the group then appears to have fallen from the minibus into the path of a following car.

“The injured man was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary Hospital, where he died at 7.45pm on Tuesday.

“The scene was cordoned off pending an investigation by the road policing unit’s collision investigation unit.”
