A TEENAGER was found with cannabis after being arrested for causing criminal damage.
Wesley Alan Richard Williams, aged 18, of Glan Ffornwg, Wildmill, admitted both offences at Bridgend Magistrates’ Court.
Nia James, prosecuting, said: “On November 9 at 6pm a lady parked her Renault Clio at Llynfi Street.
“In the morning she found the driver’s door had been pulled back and the windows smashed.”
Williams was arrested for the damage on April 15 and police found he had 3.5 grammes of cannabis.
He told police he had pulled back the car door with two accomplices who he refused to name.
“His intention was to remove a radio,” said Miss James.
Williams, who was not represented, told the court that last year he had a drink problem.
He added: “My girlfriend is pregnant and we are planning on getting married.”
Probation officer Graham Allen said Williams had previously suffered a brain injury from an attack, but would be able to undertake unpaid work.
Williams was sentenced to a 12-month community order with 80 hours’ unpaid work.
District Judge Richard Williams ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
