Vehicles destroyed in suspected arson attack

The burnt-out vehicles belonging to Llynfi Valley Community Transport

A SUSPECTED arson attack has destroyed four vehicles belonging to a South Wales charity.

Llynfi Valley Community Transport, of the Tondu Enterprise Centre, Tondu, Bridgend was targeted at 1.48am yesterday.

One coach, two mini buses and a panel van were gutted in the fire, which took fire crews two hours to put out.

The front premises of Llynfi Valley Community Transport and the porch of nearby business, Philip Carter Signs will have to be demolished as a result of the damage caused by the fire.

Disabled passengers, elderly people and community groups from throughout Bridgend County Borough depend on the company for their transport.

Company manager Colin Bevan, who was on the scene at 6am, said: “We’ve lost four out of our five vehicles and this is going to cost us somewhere in the region of £100,000.
