Teen denies murder

A TEENAGER has denied murdering father-of-one Nicholas Baty.

Mr Baty, aged 48, of Springfield Lane, Brackla, died a month after he was assaulted in The Triangle, Brackla, on January 4. He never regained consciousness.

A 17-year-old youth from Brackla, who cannot be named, was originally charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on Mr Baty.

He appeared at Cardiff Crown Court via video link and spoke only to confirm his name and to enter a formal not guilty plea to the murder charge.

The Recorder of Cardiff, Judge Nicholas Cooke QC, remanded the boy in youth custody.

He is expected to stand trial in November.
