CHILDREN and adults have joined forces to clean up their estate.
More than 40 volunteers filled three skips with litter from the Oakwood Estate, Maesteg.
The event was designed to encourage responsible refuse disposal.
Helpers cleared a large area of its rubbish, and brought the riverbank at the south side of the estate back to its natural best.
Funding and expertise was provided by Valleys to Coast, Acorn Community Association, Keep Wales Tidy, The Environment Agency, probation and BCBC.
Louise Morris, V2C housing officer, said the work party had made light of their task.
“The children were spurred on by the Easter bunny, and had Easter eggs and face painting as a reward for their efforts.
“We were really pleased by the number of eager volunteers, and at just how much we all achieved.
“Many are keen to be involved with more events like this, and have committed to keeping Oakwood clean. More activities are planned to start soon.”
