Conservative: David Unwin

MODERNISATION and preventing a return to the “Dark Ages” are the main priorities for the Bridgend and Ogmore Conservative Party in the run-up to May’s local elections.

Party agent and Newcastle candidate David Unwin has urged voters to support the Liberal Democrats or Rainbow Alliance-friendly Independents wherever the Tories aren’t standing.

“The message from the Conservatives at these elections is very simple,” he said.

“Further progress in modernising our council, building on what has been achieved in partnership with the Rainbow Alliance over the past four years – or back to the ‘Dark Ages’ with a council led by failed Labour policies resulting in ever-increasing taxes.

“Conservatives will continue to review all aspects of council responsibilities to ensure we are getting real value for money, while preserving essential, valued front-line services.

“Finance is tight for us all at present and we must ensure none of it is wasted.

“For the Alliance to continue its good progress, I would urge voters to support the Conservatives wherever we are standing.

“But where we may not have a candidate, we urge voters to support any alternative Alliance candidate.”
