‘Sensitive’ reporting praised
MANY people have voiced support for the way the Gazette has reported the spate of young deaths in Bridgend.
Superintendent Tim Jones, divisional commander of police in Bridgend, reiterated his earlier praise for the Gazette but warned: “Public opinion is turning against the media in Bridgend.”
And Janice Gregory AM said: “We must always remember that behind every headline there is a grieving family and my thoughts are with them in their tragic loss.
“I am appalled at the way the national media has reported these tragedies and pay tribute to the Gazette for the responsible and sensitive way it has reported the issue.
“The local paper has served the area for 130 years and understands better than any national the issues in the area.
“You’ve got to report the news but you have not sought to sensationalise it.”
