Greetings from Norway

FOLLOWING our appeal for pictures of readers from around the world for the Gazette’s News Gets Around feature Paul and Venche Phillips from Norway, have contacted us.

The couple are both keen readers of the Gwent Gazette, along with their family and friends.

Mr Phillips, who has lived in Norway for 33 years, was born in Tredegar. He worked in Morfields Eye Hospital before taking his expertise to Norway.

Mr Phillips is now an optometrist in his own practice in Haugesund.

His wife Venche is a nursing sister in Skudeneshavn, who also enjoys reading the Gazette.

Both are art collectors and say they were overjoyed when they saw the article on Heulwen Phillips, the Welsh artist, in the Gazette, as they had purchased many of her paintings in Norway.

The Gazette would love to feature more readers like the Phillips’ with their copies of the Gazette, at different places in the world.

Maybe you hail from Blaenau Gwent but now live, work or are planning on holidaying or travelling in another part of the country or world.

If you are, why not send us a snapshot of yourself with a copy of the Gazette at a well-known landmark, landscape or with a famous building or personality. If you do, you could be gracing the pages of the Gazette in our News Gets Around feature.

Send your jpegs to gwent.pictures@mediawales.co.uk or send your photographs to News Gets Around, Gwent Gazette, 14 Bethcar Street, Ebbw Vale NP23 6HH.
