Competition win’s on the cards for one talented pupil

A COMPANY is looking for creative youngsters in Blaenau Gwent to create a corporate Christmas card for them.

Cardiff and Swansea-based New Directions Education is inviting primary school children to submit Christmas-themed designs – and the best will be used on the company’s greeting card.

Last year, dozens of pupils entered the competition and the winner was Carrie Ann John, aged 10, of Cefn Cribwr Primary School, Bridgend.

Gary Williams, New Directions Education’s managing director, said: “Our Christmas card competition is one of my favourite events in the calendar because it gives me an opportunity to view the creative talents of our clients – the children of South Wales.

“Entries which are popular with the judges are those that are imaginative, bright and happy. We also like to see children using a wide range of art materials.”

Each entry must be presented on A4 paper and the winner will receive an A3 framed version of their card, art supplies and their name, age and school will be displayed on the card when it is distributed.

Each school is invited to submit two entries, one for Key Stage One (ages five to seven) and one for Key Stage Two (ages seven to 11). Entries can be sent to New Directions Education, Elgin House, 106-107 St Mary Street, Cardiff, CF10 1DX. The closing date is November 26.
