International award for city professor

A PROFESSOR of exercise physiology at the University of Glamorgan has been honoured with the International Investigator Award for 2008 by the American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP).

The Visiting Researcher Award was awarded to Professor Julien Baker following his keynote presentation at the 10th ASEP national meeting this month in Duluth, Minnesota.

Professor Baker received the award in recognition of his contribution to JEPonline, the first electronic peer-reviewed exercise physiology journal in the history of the profession, and for his presence and contributions to the ASEP National Meeting.

The Sport, Health and Exercise Science Research Unit at University of Glamorgan has also had its work recognised by ASEP.

Professor Baker said: “It’s a great honour for both myself and the university to receive this award from one of the most prestigious American Exercise Physiology Societies.”
