Pensioner’s £50 to help victim of theft

ANOTHER South Wales pensioner has stepped in to help disabled Barry man Chris Beaumont, whose home was burgled while he slept in his wheelchair.

Mr Beaumont lost his £1,000 life savings in the raid on his house in Dunlin Court Barry. The 52-year-old artist and signwriter, who suffers from a heart condition and diabetes, had his left leg amputated three months ago and faces losing his other leg.

He was asleep in his wheelchair when thieves broke in and stole the money.

Earlier this week Joan Jenkins, 81, of Ystrad Mynach, gave more than £30 to Mr Beaumont. Now another pensioner, who has asked to remain anonymous but is 76 and from Cardiff has given him £50.

She said: “The people who did this are scum. It shows that the punishments are not tough enough.”

Two other annonymous pensioners have also donated £50 each.
