Concern at further closures

COUNCIL leaders have expressed alarm at the possibility that more post offices in a town centre could close.

The Post Office has confirmed that Cogan Pill branch, Penarth, will close. But the future of two other town branches, in Windsor Road and Wood Street, could be in doubt.

The Post Office has said it will “continue to monitor demand for its services in Cogan”.

Councillor Nigel Gibbs, who sits on the Vale council Cabinet, said there were rumours the town’s main office at Windsor Road was to shut in April. He said: “This appears to be going from the sublime to the ridiculous. There is now a history of mistrust and antagonism and the situation is one of confusion and alarm, which may or may not be justified.”
