Man charged with public toilets murder

A 29-YEAR-OLD unemployed man has been remanded in custody to appear in court charged with murdering Jeff Akers from Barry.

Mr Akers, a 50-year-old retired accountant, died on Tuesday afternoon after being stabbed in the back with a large carving knife at a public toilets in Walton, Surrey.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Wednesday at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and concluded that Mr Akers died from a single stab wound to the back.

Mark Malone, 29, of Walton on Thames, appeared at Staines Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with murdering Mr Akers. He was remanded in custody to appear at London’s Old Bailey on June 13.

Surrey detectives had been questioning Malone since noon on Thursday.
