New-look park will have better facilities for youngsters

WORK has started on the final phase of a project to refurbish one of South Wales’ major parks.

A new children’s playground and multi-use court is being installed by the Vale of Glamorgan Council at Victoria Park, Cadoxton. The work is due to finish in the first week in March.

Councillor Neil Moore, deputy leader of the Vale council, said: “I am thrilled that the final part of the project has started and the users of the park were consulted on the choice of equipment.

“I look forward to completion of the project that will provide much-needed opportunities for the young people of Barry.

“I always like to encourage youngsters to be active and make the most of their local area and use of the park will help them improve their health and fitness.”

Play equipment has been chosen in consultation with young people from Cadoxton Primary School and will include traditional swings and a range of climbing and rocking equipment.

A court suitable for football or basketball is also being built.
