Firefighters rescue man from blaze

A MAN was rescued from a burning house in Barry today.

Firefighters using breathing apparatus broke their way in through the front door of the terraced house in Dobbins Road, Barry, at 4am.

The hallway of the vacant and unfurnished property was on fire while the rest of the house was badly smoke- logged.

Firefighters found a man in his 30s unconscious on the floor of the bedroom.

A fire service spokesman said: “We carried him out of the house and resuscitated him on the scene using oxygen therapy. Paramedics then took him to hospital.”

The man’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police and fire officers were today investigating the cause of the fire and trying to discover if the man had any connection with the property or was squatting there.
