A PRIMARY school has created a new multi-sensory room for its physically impaired pupils thanks to a donation.
The £11,000 from Dow Corning has helped to provide almost 20 children with muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy at Palmerston Primary School in Barry with a new safe and educational environment.
The room will be used for sessions of physiotherapy as well as play and has been developed so the children can receive therapy in a stimulating and relaxing environment.
It includes a colourful soft play area where children can play free from their wheelchairs in a safe, protected area.
Headteacher Mark Middlemiss said: “This project has been a great success and the end result for our pupils is a safe, relaxing and simulating environment. We want to be able to provide the best facilities for all our children and this new sensory room helps us do just that. We could not have done this without the donation.”
Jonathan Coldman, community relations co-ordinator at Dow Corning, said: “This has been a great community project for Dow to be involved with.”
