A DECISION on controversial plans for more development at Rhoose Point, including houses, offices, a health centre, pub and nursery, has been put on hold while councillors visit the site.
Separate plans to build shops and flats on land next to Rhoose train station have also been held up while councillors visit that site as well.
Cardiff-based Savills has drawn up plans for the first development on the south side of the railway line at Rhoose Point.
Rhoose Point, where more than 500 houses have already been built, has been the focus of controversy in recent years as concern mounts that the drainage system there is unable to cope. Vale of Glamorgan planners recommended approval of the latest scheme to build 54 more houses on the site.
Residents living at Rhoose Point lodged official objections to the scheme. They want to see the drainage and other infrastructure problems sorted out before more houses are built.
The second development has been drawn up by Newport-based Fourgreen Development Ltd. It has also been opposed by residents who say it would be out of character with the area.
Final decisions on both schemes are expected to be taken next month.
