THE streets of one town suburb have become safer following a high-profile police operation.
Operation Pineapple was mounted following complaints by residents in Cadoxton about drug-related crime.
During the three-week operation, 89 people were stopped and searched with 21 offenders arrested.
A total of 48 Ecstasy tablets, 12 bags of cannabis together with quantities of amphetamines and cannabis plants were seized during the operation.
Insp Andrew Rice, of Barry police, said: “The great success of this operation has meant that many people who were carrying out criminal activity are now off the streets.
“The dramatic reduction of crime in the area has made Cadoxton a safer place. Residents are extremely pleased and say they feel much more secure.”
